NICU Reunion • Easter Bunny

The wonderful people at River Oaks Hospital invited us to a NICU reunion to honor all their NICU graduates.  It was fun to go see the nurses and meet new parents of preemies. We had the best experience possible with my doctor and all of the nurses at the hospital, and the NICU doctors and nurses saved our lives, taught us so much about becoming parents, and helped us tremendously! We love you all and thank you for inviting us to visit AND meet the Easter Bunny! I only wish more of our nurses would have been there.

I think she spotted the Easter Bunny and wasn't quite sure what to think yet.

Waiting in line to get our picture made. She is still very intrigued and wants to run up to the bunny.
But once it was her turn to sit in his lap, she was having no part of it! Poor Lyds and bunny!

Still "Frying" -- Alan's term he coined for "fake-crying."

She liked this bunny though!

Singing in the Rain

Wednesday afternoon was yucky and rainy... we had to get in the hallway at school, which you know makes me scared! It slowed down to a little sprinkle when we got home and Lydia was pitching a fit to go outside. So me being the awesome mom I am.... we both put on our raincoats and boots and headed outside. (Before you start judging me, we were literally out there for 20 seconds, and it was not cold!) But I thought these pictures were worth it! And she managed to stay pretty dry too!

I don't have any rain boots yet, so I wore my cowgirl boots that Uncle Ellis gave me! The rain just rolled right off of them.

Jumping!

15 month check up!

Monday we went to the Dr. for our 15th month check up and little Lyds is right on par as far as development, but she's still a small little girl. The Dr. says she is just fine though and very healthy, nothing to worry about! She keeps saying she will always be petite, but I think she'll grow soon! Here are few snapshots from our visit... so precious, until our shots came! Here are her stats:
19.01 pounds (in the 3.33 %)
29.5 inches long (the 19.96 %tile)
17.72 inches in head circumference (the 23.48 %tile)

Reading all my books (and pulling them off the shelves in my room) before I head to the appointment.

Waiting, and waiting, and waiting...... but she had fun playing!

We were in a new room that has a dog as the bed. She kept saying dog and woofing at it.

So happy, paying with new toys.

All smiles!

She was a mess after her two shots until Mrs. Becca came in to give us an elmo sticker.

Kiss me, I'm Irish - No for real...

.... My great (times about 5 or so) grandfather really did come to the USA from Ireland, hence the MCCORMICK!

On the last Saturday of Spring Break, we were able to be in the City of Jackson's St. Patrick's day parade. Many to thanks to my mom's friends, Linda and Johnny Bass, for letting us take part in their whole set up. It's a big deal to have a float, they start preparing months in advance, they get there at the crack of down to park and haul out there tailgating stuff for the day. They so graciously let us join in on everything, and we even got to ride up front by the driver on their float, which is a awesome antique fire truck! We got to ring the bell a few times too. Lydia enjoyed the whole parade, she sat there waving to people and having a ball! She was exhausted at the end of the day, but she was her normal little attention grabbing and entertaining self for all those she came across!

She was having fun, I don't know why I couldn't capture any smiles.... most of them she was dancing or clapping so she makes her "serious face"

So sleepy!

In my grove chair, but wait, this isn't the grove!

Sun Hat

Testing out the fire truck

The funniest float.... the whole theme was former Governor, Haley Barbour,  and his 200 something pardon's he recently caught flack for giving. This is a bobble head Haley, he was hilarious! He walked around passing out pieces of paper with "pardoned" on it. The float and walkers were all wearing orange or jail bird suits.
Whew, that was a long, but fun ride!!

And ready for Church on Sunday morning!

Word(s) of the week

So for most of the week, it was just me and my little girl.... She is jabbering so much lately that I decided to make a list of all her words as of today. She is so smart, but I think that Alan and I are the only ones who actually understand what she is saying.

Her first words a while back were Bye Bye, followed by Dada, and then Mama. But we are now up to a bunch, including: Bubbles, Rebels (which kind of sound the same), Deuce, Kitty Cat and KK (which are similar), Juice, Bottle, Night night, Baby, Bo, duck, cookie, ball, and thanks to our neighborhood dogs she sees on our walks she loves to say dog and woof woof, but her bark is in a really low tone with her mouth shut, it kind of sounds like the lab next door!

My favorite is when she says, "baby" and runs to find her doll and then she'll just repeat baby over and over and over.....

Here are some recent pics from week, mostly from our new nature park and the fun park where we met Lila and her family for some fun on Friday.

We ended up chasing her up and down the steps of the amphitheater until we pulled her away!

And UP the steps...

Yelling at everyone that walked by, especially the ladies (I think because they pay her the most attention.)

And she had to wave to make sure everyone noticed her.

Oh the ponytail.... Kind of silly, but I added that touch this day so people wouldn't think she was a boy in her blue overalls.

Finally we get to chase Boston and Carter around.

She wasn't sure about Carter throwing her that ball.

The best picture we could get of the two munchkins running around.

Oh on Tuesday, we went to go vote! She loves being a little ham for the ladies at the poll.
(Santorum ended up winning the Rep Primary here in MS.)

An attempt at capturing her dance moves... she loves her new sandals from SuSu!
